Run a Skamania County Docket Search

Start a Skamania County case search by picking the court level, then search by party name or case number. Superior Court records sit in one public portal. District Court and the municipal courts are easiest to reach through the statewide court search. A result can list case details, events, and hearings, but it is not the official court file. Search with narrow facts, write down the court name, and confirm key details with the proper clerk. When nothing comes back, the cause may be the wrong court, a spelling slip, data lag, or lawful access limits.

Skamania County Portal Choice

Which court holds the case decides where to look first. For Skamania County Superior Court, the free public Smart Search on the Odyssey Portal works without an account. Your browser needs JavaScript and cookies enabled. For Skamania District, Stevenson Municipal, and North Bonneville Municipal matters, the statewide portal is the better first stop. JIS-Link sits apart from all this. It is a paid docket-data service, not the free public search.

Superior Court holds general jurisdiction. Felonies, family law, probate, guardianship, and real-property cases all land there, along with anything else state law assigns. District Court takes limited-jurisdiction matters, and each municipal court keeps its own name and code. Federal cases from Skamania County appear in neither portal. They belong to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. It runs its own federal search systems.

Case Number Searches

A case number is the strongest key you can bring to a docket search. The Washington state portal lets you pair a court with a case number. Odyssey Smart Search takes either a number or a party name. A number search needs at least four characters. Copy the number straight from your filed notice or citation rather than working from memory.

Superior Court numbers follow a pattern. Two digits give the year. One digit marks the case type. Then a sequence follows, topped off with a check digit at the end of the number. In Odyssey, the last position may hold the county number. Take 21-2-00847-30 as an illustration, not a real case. Here 21 is the year. The 2 marks a civil case type. 00847 is the sequence, and 30 is Skamania County's code.

Other Superior type digits exist. Criminal is 1, domestic is 3, probate or guardianship is 4, and judgment is 9. Adoption or paternity, mental health, and juvenile cases get restricted or limited public display. District and municipal courts use their own local formats, and no format fits every character. So read a number as a label, nothing more. It cannot tell you the offense, the date, or the result of a case.

Skamania County Odyssey Filters

Odyssey Smart Search looks up a Skamania County court docket by case number. Party names work too, typed as Last, First Middle. When the results pile up, the advanced filters help. You can trim them by location, case status, and case type. The date range covers when the filing landed. The official October 2025 quick reference adds even more fields. Party, business, attorney, bar number, judicial officer, and nickname searches are all on that list. So are cross-reference number and hearing fields for a Skamania County docket search.

Type names in any case you like; capitalization does not matter. Hyphens are trickier. If a hyphenated name returns nothing, try the version without the dash. Even spacing variants can change the outcome. Odyssey caps every search at the first 200 results. Lean on county, date, and case-type filters to keep your Skamania County case lookup manageable. One more limit is worth knowing. Citation number, booking number, and SO number simply are not searchable in Washington Odyssey.

Case Search Results Explained

Think of a public search result as an index. It is not the whole Skamania County case file. Each Odyssey row carries the case number, file date, case type, location, and party name. Click through and the case page may show case information, parties, disposition events, other events, and hearings. What it does not grant is deeper document access. For that, the County Clerk must approve any expanded access. That approval applies to the Skamania County court records.

Case NumberThe court-assigned identifier used to return to the same case.
PartiesThe public caption or party listing, subject to access limits.
Case TypeThe filed category, such as criminal, civil, domestic, or probate.
Filed DateThe date the case was entered, not its hearing or disposition date.
StatusA current portal label that may lag and needs the event history for context.
HearingsScheduled events, which can be reset, continued, or stricken.

Read a dismissal code in context. Look at its date and its code before drawing any conclusion. A hearing on the calendar proves nothing about the outcome. Even a document indicator is no promise that the public can download the filing itself. The actual text of an order or pleading can matter for your Skamania County docket. When it does, request it from the clerk.

Four Skamania County Court Codes

Washington's JIS court-code table splits Skamania County's courts into four distinct codes. Superior Court cases carry S30. District Court uses SKD. Stevenson Municipal runs under SVM, while North Bonneville Municipal uses NBM. Keeping those labels straight matters. A common docket search mistake is lumping every case at the courthouse into a single court. The codes actually treat them as separate dockets.

S30
Skamania County Superior Court.
SKD
Skamania County District Court.
SVM
Stevenson Municipal Court, even though District Court provides services.
NBM
North Bonneville Municipal Court, which remains a distinct municipal court.

A ticket written in Stevenson stays under SVM, and a North Bonneville filing stays under NBM. When you cannot tell which court holds the record, run a separate docket search for each code. And if the statewide portal comes back empty, call District Court before assuming the case was dismissed.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

The statewide portal and Odyssey cover some of the same ground at the Superior level. Yet they serve different purposes. One casts a wide net across Washington. The other gives you the full Superior Court layout. It carries the case detail and hearing information a Skamania County docket search depends on. When a Superior Court date or event is hard to pin down, checking both is the reliable move.

Skip the screen and call the office that actually holds the file. The Skamania County Clerk handles Superior Court records at 509-427-3770. District Court keeps its own files plus the municipal cases it services, at 509-427-3782. Both offices sit at 240 NW Vancouver Ave in Stevenson. District Court is in Room 35. A hearing that is coming up soon may show first on the Skamania County court schedule.

Skamania County Zero-Result Checks

An empty search is not the end of the story. Start by confirming you are in the right place. A case may sit in Superior, District, Stevenson Municipal, or North Bonneville Municipal Court. Then tighten the details: spelling, hyphens, spaces, the file-date range, and the case type. Search by case number if you have one. In Odyssey, the wildcard and Sounds Like tools can catch near matches. Narrowing the results to Skamania County helps as well.

  1. Recheck the court level and local court code.
  2. Try the exact case number from the notice.
  3. Test supported name and punctuation variants.
  4. Allow for the statewide system's update cycle.
  5. Contact the clerk if the record or hearing is urgent.

There is another reason a search comes back empty. Some files are sealed or restricted, so the docket will never surface for the public. A blank result is not a clean record. It is not a dismissal or proof the case never existed. When you track a public matter, save the official URL and the date you searched.

Note: A missing document is not a missing filing; Skamania County clerks supply copies that public search screens do not host.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

Washington starts from openness. GR 31 presumes public access to court records. But statutes, court rules, protective orders, and sealing orders carve out exceptions. GR 15 sets the rules for sealing and redaction. GR 22 shields family-law and confidential information, and RCW 13.50.050 gives juvenile records special protection. The county does not publish juvenile dockets on its Superior Court page. Adoption and paternity matters are omitted or restricted online. The same goes for mental illness or alcohol records, juvenile dependency, and juvenile offender matters. Minors' details, participant addresses, victim information, and confidential financial or medical data may be withheld too. Never try to piece together what a court redacted. If you need access, ask the clerk about the lawful request or court-order process.

Public access has limits. A sealed or restricted Skamania County case may be absent or show only limited details. An empty result does not reveal why.

Quote the public terms exactly, and check them against the filed order before relying on them. The statewide portal itself warns that a result cannot verify identity or outcome. Court records support case tracking, hearing checks, public-interest reporting, genealogy, and study of local courts, so treat them with care and keep them tied to the official source.

Skamania County Results and Copies

A docket result is only an index. It lists activity. It is not the pleading, order, judgment, minute entry, or recording behind an event. The statewide search hands over no document copies. Odyssey depends on the record and its public access level. Even without an image, a visible event can mark a real filing. For a Superior document, contact the County Clerk. Name the court, case number, document type, date, and parties as needed. District or municipal records go through the District Court public-record route. Deliver that form at Room 35. You can also mail it to PO Box 790 in Stevenson, email districtcourt@co.skamania.wa.us, or fax 509-427-3777.
